International workshop on Dynamic Beam Shaping for laser welding

Experts in laser welding, laser beam shaping, and digital manufacturing from the EU-funded Lasers4MaaS project will host the workshop “Use of Dynamic Beam Shaping for High-Power Beam Welding” at the University of Warwick.
Adopting and advancing cutting-edge manufacturing systems has long been a key objective for Ecor International, a group specializing in industrial research and development. Leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, the company continuously pushes the boundaries of innovation in industrial applications.
As a proud partner of the EU-funded Lasers4MaaS project, Ecor International is contributing to a transformative effort that combines next-generation laser welding technologies with advanced digital solutions to redefine industrial production processes.
One of the key innovations driving this initiative is Dynamic Beam Shaping, which opens new opportunities for servitization. Companies will be able to manufacture on demand without the need for significant investments in new equipment, ensuring rapid adaptability and efficiency.
The Lasers4MaaS project officially kicks off on January 29, 2025, preceded by a workshop on January 28, 2025, titled: “Use of Dynamic Beam Shaping for High-Power Laser Beam Welding”
The workshop, hosted by WMG at the University of Warwick, will delve into applications of Dynamic Beam Shaping in industries such as automotive, aerospace, food packaging, and renewable energy. It is designed for scientists, academics, and professionals eager to gain insights into the latest developments in laser welding technologies and digital manufacturing.
Attendees will have the chance to witness live demonstrations of Dynamic Beam Shaping technology at the “Advanced Laser Welding with Dynamic Beam Shaping Lab” at WMG.
The workshop will feature leading experts in laser welding, beam shaping, and digital manufacturing, who will discuss recent technological advancements and market trends.
Key speakers include: Pasquale Franciosa (WMG, University of Warwick), Simon Webb (WMG, University of Warwick), Mark Thompson (Photonics Express Ltd.), Ruben Cesana (Civan Lasers), Volkher Onuseit (University of Stuttgart), Aleksey Kovalevsky (Israel Institute of Materials Manufacturing Technologies), Domenico Stocchi (Ecor International), Simone Peli (Castellini Officine Meccaniche S.r.l.).
Domenico Stocchi, Research & Innovation Director at Ecor International, will deliver a presentation titled: “Research in Welding and Digital Technologies for Product Diversification”
Stocchi will discuss Ecor International’s strategic approach to industrial research and how it drives product and business diversification. His presentation will focus on welding technologies, highlighting how process and product optimization through research can lead to consistent, high-quality production.
The session will also examine the impact of advanced technologies like Laser Beam Shaping in expanding production capabilities—both for existing products and for entering new markets. Additionally, the discussion will address how Laser Beam Shaping can significantly enhance productivity, quality, and sustainability, offering enormous potential for transformative industrial outcomes.
As part of this ambitious project, Ecor International serves as an industrial end user and final developer of Laser Beam Shaping processes. The company will utilize a prototype system integrating innovative digital technologies to advance industrial applications.
